Tampa, Florida, 2 April 2010- Solstice Enterprise Software has repainted an unused group home designated as a Library & Learning Center for The Joshua House, an organization for helping children from abusive families. The Joshua House began a complete renovation of the rundown building early this year.  Solstice donated more than 180 service hours to prepare and paint the outside of the facility (a total cost to Solstice of upwards of $12,000 in donated employee time and supplies).  In tandem with Solstice, 35 additional hours were also donated by the Boy Scouts of America Troop 39 from Palm Harbor, Florida to prepare the building for masonry sealer and paint.

The Library & Learning Center is designed to give additional educational opportunities to youth in the program.  The center will house a traditional library, a computer center, and a multi-purpose room. The multi-purpose room will provide a venue for the teens to hear professionals introduce basic industry concepts and skills from a variety of disciplines, covering subjects from art to gardening. The professionals will offer a one time or weekly workshop, exposing the teens to a variety of life paths or interesting them in new hobbies.

“We could not provide all the things we provide for children if it were not for volunteers like the folks at Solstice,” says Dr. Dominick Gulli, Program Manager at the Children’s Home Society of Florida (the organization that facilitates the Joshua house).  “Through their generosity of time, energy & spirit, the folks at Solstice assisted us in a ‘home makeover’ for the children.  Someone once wrote: ‘The road to success is not crowded. Because while most are looking for ways to take, the truly successful people are finding ways to give. With a giving attitude, every situation is an opportunity for success.’ By this standard, the people at Solstice are indeed the epitome of success and we will be forever grateful.”

Solstice employees were happy to donate time to this project. “The Joshua House has a profound effect on helping children begin to recover from the heartbreaking abuse, neglect and abandonment suffered at the hands of those they love,” explains Gavin Packard, Solstice CEO. “We are emotionally and financially committed to helping The Joshua House provide a homelike environment of love nurturing and stability for every child in their care.”
