A common problem among rapidly growing companies is the inconsistency and erratic patchwork of discontiguous systems fused together to support their business systems. Many of these systems were installed at different times and by different groups and were never intended to work together. Over time, these various solutions have been connected through various links and patches to form the current solution. Two things are certain about such systems. First, it is far too expensive to replace all previous systems with one perfectly designed soup-to-nuts solution. And the second thing that is absolutely certain is that the company can not continue to operate under the burden of the current system. Solstice has unique ability to provide a single, overarching viewpoint of your in-house systems without dismantling the engine that makes it work. By focusing on business processes rather than IT connectivity, Solstice associates are able to quickly understand how information flows through your various IT solutions and their mass of interconnected patches. One example of our work can be seen on a project with Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI). Due to rapid growth and continuous improvement, MVCI found that they were using 10 different applications over 27 different screens to manage a portion of their CRM data. Solstice has been retained to work with current users and an internal IT group to create a new data map and key terminology for the organization. This strategic approach will provide much needed clarity about current systems as well as lay the foundation for future development. |
